Description: While the cheapest, the L/P Käfer Kopf is one of the least seen variants. Equipped for high speed with light weaponry, this variant is well-armored for it's role. This allows it to survive most sightings and chance encounters it'll get into long enough to escape or be relieved by more combat-suited friendlies. To get get reasonable speed without sacrificing much of it's standard armor (as well as keep costs down), the L/P KK could only be armed with a low-power dual-beam gun and the small emergency blade carried by most units. While effective against lightly armored enemy units, the Halon/Mack is rather useless against anything decently armored. The "kitchen knife", as many soldiers like to call it, is somewhat more effective than the beam gun, but still not a major threat to anything with more than light armor. Unlike a typical Käfer Kopf, the L/P version has significantly improved stability to better handle the speeds it's supposed to be used at, however this comes at the cost of lower joint freedom, increasing its maneuvering/reaction time. Otherwise this variant features little changes to the mech, retaining its above-medium armor and high-performance jumpjets.
Pah, the critique they gave you was unfair. I say "box model" mech all the way! At least it would be stable, unlike all these organically designed mechs that seem to develop emotions and subsequent guilt complexes...whatever happened to using a mech as a bog-standard tool of death?

Yeah, who needs emotions and looks when you got several tons of armor and a big ass gun!?
But back from fantasy/game(mechwarrior ho!!) land, what can I say? Old school "ugly but get's the job done" mechs are a dying breed these days. Still, all "was it fair?" bits aside, it still coulda been better, as it didn't come out quite as I had hoped. Don't get me wrong; I still love some good ol' boxiness in me mechs.
Anyways time to start thinkin' on me SN2 mech. Maybe I'll come back to this later and make some real weapons and add-ons for it when I think of some suitable ones.
Speaking of SN2... ya tinking a' anyting fer et?

I'm not entering SN2, I'm a one-show man and the Docs have had their run in Steel Nation (it's why I'm taking so long over their epilogue, because they won't be coming back). Sure, I could enter someone else but they just wouldn't live up to the expectations of the Docs.
I'd love to support SN2 in any way I can though (other than financially). Perhaps submit an NPC or something, if Dire would allow that. I've got a character who'd be a fantastic official-type person.

Oh right... now I remember, you'd said that ages ago hadn't you?
And lol, I think Dire would have no problem at all with that. In fact, if I remember right, she had sorta encouraged us to make up some ourselves for SN. Besides, any character you'd make would likely liven things up I'd say, and that's always a good thing.

I'd like to show you some awesome nature related work from more or less unknown artists which deserve more attention - this is a must see, you won't regret it!!!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
I'm a lover of visual impacts. I like brilliant colors and shapes. And I decided to collect a whole stack of deviations that reflect that taste. These pieces showcased below deserve every bit of publicity you can give them. x)P
